Gluten free diet benefits are huge for those with celiac disease or a gluten allergy.  But feedback is not immediate.  How to stop eating gluten?

Avoiding gluten is a real struggle: we are used to eating wheat-based foods – it seems like almost everything is either made of wheat, or has wheat in it.  This isn’t really true of course, but when you are trying to avoid gluten, that’s all you see everywhere: wheat, barleyoats and rye as far as the eye can see!

I’ll tell you about a method I have used to avoid gluten and stay on a gluten-free diet.

The first thing to understand when avoiding a food is that you can’t not eat wheat!  How do you not do something?  By asking yourself that question, you are already at a disadvantage.

Instead, you need to do a food substitution in your head.

Every time you think “wheat”, or “bread”, or “cookie” or whatever, you need to replace that thought with a gluten-free alternative.

This is easier than it has ever been.  Now you can think “gluten-free bread” instead of bread or “gluten-fee cookies” instead of “cookies” – and go out and buy them in the store.

The real secret to success is to have gluten free foods on hand.  Think about what you can eat, and have a good store of raw ingredients to make your own gluten free food, and some prepared gluten free snacks for those times when you are too hungry to think.

You will have better luck if you can eliminate all gluten-containing foods from your house and replace all of it with food you can eat.  If this is not possible because of who you share your house with, then at least have  gluten-free cupboard just for you, that you can open and be inspired by.

The key to starting a gluten free diet it to replace the thought “no gluten” with thoughts about specific gluten-free foods you can eat.  You will find many ideas on this and other gluten-free websites on the internet.

Many call apple cider vinegar the Wonder Drug . Propagators of this wonder drug claim that the best way to have the vinegar is first thing in the morning. Mix two tablespoons each of apple cider vinegar and honey in a glass of water and drink it. This solution may taste slightly acidic, and may not seem to be the best way to start your morning, but once you know of the immense benefits that follow, it will not feel all that bad. Many find that following this routine first thing in the morning helps in eliminating constipation, which is one of the prime causes of many diseases. Constipation is also sometimes the cause of headaches – leading to a bad mood, deprived sleep, and a lethargic feeling the whole day.
